Introducing Dr. Kate Lund
Thursday Jan 15, 2026
Thursday Jan 15, 2026
In today's episode, Reah introduces Dr. Kate Lund, a public speaker, resilience expert, and podcast host. Kate shares her experience of being diagnosed with hydrocephalus at age four, which required a shunt to manage the condition. She discusses the challenges of repeated surgeries and hospitalizations, and how her parents helped her focus on her capabilities rather than limitations. Kate emphasizes the importance of finding ways children can engage in activities they enjoy, despite health challenges. She advises parents to manage their own emotions while supporting their children, and to help children develop resilience by focusing on what they can do rather than what they cannot.
Dr. Kate advises parents facing difficult times with their children to focus on optimizing their own well-being while maintaining a broader perspective of their child's capabilities beyond any challenges. Reah shares her personal experience of overcoming a challenging situation with her youngest child by taking parenting classes and educating herself, highlighting the importance of adapting and changing perspectives.
Reah and Kate discuss the importance of education and support in parenting, emphasizing that parents can make a positive impact on their children despite challenges. Kate and Reah discuss the importance of appreciating small steps forward in personal development and resilience. They also talked about Kate's podcast, "The Optimized Mind", which focuses on the human experience of resilience and personal development and of which Reah was a previous guest on. The podcast features authentic stories of people overcoming challenges, normalizing the difficulties of life, and showcasing that progress can be made in various ways.

Family Dynamics with Ingrid
Thursday Jan 08, 2026
Thursday Jan 08, 2026
Ingrid and Reah discuss their backgrounds and shared personal anecdotes about their families and cultural experiences. They reflect on the obligations and expectations placed on women during holidays, particularly around Thanksgiving and New Year's, emphasizing the need for honesty and support among women when it comes to managing these events.
Ingrid and Reah additionally discuss the challenges and changes in family dynamics after the passing of Reah's grandmother, who was the family matriarch. They explore the topic of grandmothering and the responsibilities that come with it, as Reah recently became a grandmother herself. Ingrid and Reah discuss the challenges and joys of being a grandmother, emphasizing the importance of respecting their daughters' parenting choices and maintaining open communication. Ingrid shares her experience of becoming a grandmother at a later age and the joy it brought her, despite not being the "world's best parent."
Ingrid and Reah discuss the changing nature of family structures and the evolving roles of grandparents and caregivers. They agree that while it's natural for some women to want to be grandmothers, it's not appropriate to pressure children about having families. They also discuss how modern families look different from traditional ones, and how sometimes children may not be able to care for their parents due to various reasons. Ingrid emphasizes the importance of respecting individual choices about caregiving, including the choice not to care for aging parents, particularly when family dynamics and geographical distances create unequal burdens. Ingrid emphasizes the importance of honest conversations about these difficult situations, highlighting that contradictory feelings can coexist and be true for individuals. Reah shares her own experience of witnessing a strained relationship between a single child and their parents, expressing a desire to avoid similar friction in her own life. Both agree on the value of open dialogue and the need to balance familial responsibilities with personal happiness. Reah shares her experience of not feeling guilty about not being able to care for her father, as it would have damaged their relationship more and they agree that focusing on peace within the family unit can create a ripple effect of positive change.

In today's episode we welcome Katie Smetherman-Holmes! Katie discusses her journey from working at a marketing agency to becoming a business owner, highlighting the supportive environment that allowed her to learn about business operations and client management. She pursued a master's degree in brand strategy at a design institute in Milan, Italy, which provided her with a comprehensive understanding of business and branding, complementing her creative skills. Tragically, during this period, Katie received news of her mother's death. Christmas Crossover- Indre Ratkele & Reah Hagues
Thursday Dec 25, 2025
Thursday Dec 25, 2025
In this honest and grounding conversation, Indrė Ratkelė is joined by Reah Hagues for a thoughtful exploration of motherhood, emotional wellbeing, and the often-unseen mental and emotional load carried by mothers.
This episode is published across I Am Ready, Just the WHO of Us, and Mom Brain with Falolity, bringing together themes of personal growth, identity, and parenting in a way that speaks to women and mothers at every stage.
Drawing from real-life experiences and reflections, Indrė and Reah speak openly about slowing down in a fast-paced world, recognising emotional overwhelm, and offering ourselves compassion without guilt. The conversation touches on the pressure to “hold it all together,” the impact of constant responsibility on the nervous system, and the importance of presence over perfection — especially during busy or emotionally charged seasons.
Rather than offering quick fixes, this episode creates space for understanding, validation, and self-awareness. It is an invitation to pause, to listen inwardly, and to remember that caring for yourself is not separate from caring for your family — it is essential to it.
Whether you are navigating motherhood, parenting identity, or simply seeking a calmer and more conscious way of living, this conversation offers reassurance, perspective, and gentle encouragement to honour your emotions and move through life with greater ease and compassion.
