Introducing Linda Lysakowski
Thursday Feb 26, 2026
Thursday Feb 26, 2026
In today's episode, we introduce Linda Lysakowski. Linda and Reah discuss Linda's extensive writing career, highlighting her over 40 published books and ongoing projects. Linda shares her journey into authorship, starting with writing blogs and non-profit case statements, eventually leading to her first published book in 1994. She describes her collaborations with various publishers and her transition into writing spiritual books, including a recent second edition of a book on the face of Jesus.
Linda and Reah both share their journey as authors, discussing their latest works and the rewarding nature of helping others with their writing. Both women emphasized the value of writing as a personal process and the sense of accomplishment it brings, regardless of the book's commercial success. Linda emphasizes the hardest part of writing a book is getting it published and marketed, not the writing itself. She discusses handling negative feedback, recalling an incident where a mistake in a self-published book led to a second edition. Linda highlights the importance of positive feedback and leaving a legacy through her writing, particularly in her fundraising books, which have been influential for many readers. In Linda's writing experience, she expresses a preference for nonfiction and spiritual genres, including a book about Jesus from different perspectives. She mentions a travel book she wrote about Las Vegas and its surroundings. Linda suggests authors should work according to their natural rhythms rather than imposing strict writing schedules, and shares her approach of alternating between different books when inspiration wanes.
Linda and Reah briefly discuss their experiences with different churches and the importance of authentic spiritual practice. Linda shares her work on combining spirituality with fundraising, including her book "The Pastor's Guide to Stewardship and Philanthropy." Linda advises aspiring authors to seek guidance from experienced writers and prepare for the challenges of publishing and marketing.

Faith on Fire (with Dr. Melanie Gray)
Thursday Feb 05, 2026
Thursday Feb 05, 2026
Dr. Melanie and Reah discuss the importance of faith during difficult times. Reah shares her journey of exploring herself beyond the rituals of Christianity, emphasizing the need for a genuine relationship with God rather than relying solely on religious practices.
The two discuss their personal journey of faith, describing how their relationships with God has deepened beyond traditional church practices and emphasize the importance of private worship and daily spiritual disciplines, noting that God is more concerned with inward transformation than outward ministry. Reah contributes by drawing parallels between the parent-child relationship and the divine-human relationship, while Dr. Melanie highlights that spiritual growth often requires long-term dedication, citing examples from biblical figures like Jesus, Joseph, David, and Moses. While sharing their personal religious journeys, they emphasize Dr. Melanie's commitment to following Christ and serving under her current pastor, whom she believes God specifically positioned her for while expressing frustration with the modern church structure, particularly the hierarchical model, which she believes diverges from biblical principles of community and mission-focused living.
Additionally, they discuss the challenges of distinguishing between worldly expectations and God's expectations, emphasizing that pleasing God is more important than pleasing people while highlighting the concept of "churchdom" and the importance of genuine faith over superficial religious practices. They agree on the simplicity of God's purpose for humans, which is to know, love, and serve.
Reah dives into her faith journey, including her struggles with religion and her current involvement with Promise City church in Salisbury, North Carolina. She explained that while she earned a bachelor's in Christian Studies, she has had an on-and-off relationship with religion and is still figuring out where she belongs in her current fellowship. Dr. Melanie and Reah have a spiritual conversation about Reah's religious journey, including her experiences with ritualistic religion and her studies in Christian Studies while sharing biblical insights from Ephesians about spiritual warfare and the importance of grounding oneself in God's Word rather than relying on feelings and emphasizing that the enemy uses the same tricks to distract people from their destiny, but God is always greater.
The pair emphasizes the importance of being slow to speak and keeping oneself girded with the armor of God, while also acknowledging the need to own one's past mistakes and trust in God's grace for a strategy forward. Dr. Melanie stresses that the walk with God is about personal relationship rather than church attendance, and that God loves individuals unconditionally, not focusing on their past or future. Reah further shares her personal experiences as a young mother, highlighting the challenges of forgiving herself and using past mistakes as teaching points for her children. They conclude by emphasizing that true spiritual growth comes from God's work within individuals, rather than external validation or titles, and that people should focus on their relationship with God rather than seeking approval from others.
